Nino d'Antonio Germano was born in Rome into the Alfonsi family of jewelers in 1926. He used the traditional method of lost wax casting, which involved destruction of the original wax sculpture in the creation of the plaster cast from which the jewelry was made. The plaster casts could only be used a few times, making Germano’s jewelry of fine quality and limited in numbers. Inspired by Classical themes, he had a distinct fascination with the movement of the human form.
